Conor McLaughlinhas had an excellent 12 months after success at both club and international level.
His biggest achievements came with the Northern Ireland team, but Fleetwood Town have also secured promotion to the League One during this period. More importantly, they have avoided a straight relegation back to the bottom tier of league football in England.McLaughlin says that it is extremely nice to have some time off from the game. The 23-year-old will be hoping to come back refreshed for the upcoming campaign, which once again promises to be tough.
Fleetwood Town remained without any relegation threat to the campaign and this is a huge positive in itself. Teams usually build on this kind of form and challenge for a promotion to the Championship despite being aware that the team is not ready for successive promotions. Fleetwood Town are unlikely to go against this philosophy anytime soon, as they could be a tough course for the play-off final in League One. Like some of the home nations, though, Northern Ireland do appear to have a great chance of reaching the Euro 2016 finals. The team are second in the table – two points ahead of third placed Hungary. This would give them a place in the finals.

It's been a hard year and a long year, starting from Uruguay just over a year ago right through to now, so I'm looking forward to a break. Everyone was saying in the dressing room that being disappointed with only getting a 0-0 draw against a team ranked 12th in the world shows how far we've come.There were a few half chances which we might have taken on another day, but we can be happy enough with the overall performance,” said McLaughlin.
