Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed that he will be taking a decision on the future of the fringe players in the coming weeks. A number of players are expected to depart the club in the last few weeks of the transfer window. This is partly because van Gaal will not be able to satisfy them with first-team football since United will be involved in only three trophies in the coming season. They have failed to qualify for both the Champions League and the Europa league after a disappointing last season.
It is a widely held belief that United are in need of a restructuring of the playing staff if they are to challenge for titles in the next decade. The likes of Nani, Anderson, and the Javier Hernandez are all linked with permanent exits from the club. Last season’s major signing of the summer, Marouane Fellaini, does not appear to figure in the plans of Van Gaal. He is set for an initial loan move to Napoli that could be converted into a permanent deal depending upon his performances in the Italian Serie A.
Speaking about the players who do not figure in his plans, the 62-year-old said that he will be informing them about his decision so that they can search for a new club before the transfer window closes.
"I shall make judgements. After this tour I shall make judgements because I let all the players play and I know now more than before the tour. But also it's a little bit soon to judge. I football you have to judge because you have to give a chance to the player to make a transfer when I see that his prospects to play aren't so high. Then you have to say it. And you have to say it in advance,” said Van Gaal.
