Messi Signs New Contract With Barcelona

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has agreed a new contract at the club to make him the world’s best paid player once again. Messi was recently overtaken by Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo who signed a contract that paid him £ 15 million per year. Messi has now overtaken this by signing a contract that gives him £ 15.5 million per year. The two have been intense rivals in the last few years and this contract once again demonstrates this aspect. Messi already had several years left on his deal, but still wanted to sign this contract.

BAD TO WORSE

Inter Milan’s season went from bad to worse after they suffered a 1-0 defeat against archrivals AC Milan, who are themselves struggling in the league this season.

Since Inter came into the match on a much better form than Milan, they were expected to comfortably get a win against Clarence Seedorf’s men. The result, however, was a shock for the Inter Milan supporters. Former Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong scored the only goal of the game in the 65th minute to help Milan get a rare victory.

BEST IN THE WORLD

Jose Mourinho has claimed that Argentine superstar Lionel Messi and Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo do not need the help of World Cup titles to prove that he is the best in the world right now.

Both these players have been regarded the finest in the world over the last five years. They have won numerous FIFA Ballon d’Or award and other accolades in order to prove that is the case. However, one blemish from their record is the absence of the World Cup title, which the previous winners of this award have won.

EVERY MATCH

Lionel Messi has made it a habit of scoring in almost every match for Barcelona that it is becoming increasingly surprising that he has scored just once in 2014, while he also went on a run of numerous matches without scoring a single league goal.

He has come in for criticism recently after sustaining numerous injuries this campaign. Manager Gerardo Martino has left it to his defence by saying that the Argentine has not taken well to the criticism from the media. He says that Messi is under immense pressure due to the recent talk about lack of goals.

SUAREZ MOVE?

The recent string of performances that Luis Suarez has managed to accomplish in this season has made a number of top European clubs take into consideration on making a move for the Uruguayan striker.

Some time ago Suarez was facing problems in Liverpool up until the point where the Premier League club was looking for a way to offload him and the player himself wanted to exit Liverpool but now things are taking a huge turn.

Suarez is topping the goal-scorer list of the Premier League and was even being named as the captain of Liverpool during the injury and absence of Steven Gerrard. Things are changing so dramatically that Suarez and Liverpool agreed on making a contract extension.

"I am delighted to have agreed a new deal with Liverpool and have my future secured for the long term. Without doubt the backing I have received from the Liverpool fans has influenced my decision. I am so proud to represent them and go out to do my best for them every time I pull on the shirt.
