With the season gradually coming to an end, the race for the league titles has continued to hot up. The English Premier League title is looking very likely to go to the Etihad this season. It's looking to be a rat race that will go down the wire toward the end of the season, with Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona all vying for the same cause.

BARCELONA: MESSI EQUALS APPEARANCE RECORD

Lionel Messi has equalled the record for the most appearances in a Barcelona shirt after he featured in the Spanish La Liga clash with Huesca, who are at the bottom of the league table. Barcelona played hosts to Huesca at the Nou Camp and it was Lionel Messi who led his team out on the occasion of his record equalling appearance. Former Barcelona teammate Xavi Hernandez had the record after he made 767 appearances for the Catalan giants during his illustrious football career but Messi has been able to equal that record.

BRAZIL LEGEND RIVALDO SAYS MESSI WILL GO TO PSG

The speculations surrounding Barcelona captain Lionel Messi has taken another twist recently as a former forward of the Catalan giants has indicated that the Argentine superstar will be heading to France to join Paris Saint-Germain upon the expiration of his contract in the summer. Barca suffered a morale-daunting defeat at the hands of PSG at the Camp Mou in the first leg of their Round of 16 fixture, and it has prompted Rivaldo to suggest that Messi will be heading to the Parc des Princes in the summer.

Rivaldo was speaking to Marca where he said the heavy 4-1 defeat would probably be Messi's last Champions League game for Barcelona and that he will be switching allegiances from Spain to France, where he may be reuniting with former teammate and ex-member of the then-famous MSN trio, Neymar.

PSG DIRECTOR TALKS UP MESSI TRANSFER

Paris Saint Germain (PSG) sporting director Leonardo has talked up the possibility of signing Lionel Messi on a free transfer this summer. The PSG chief has confirmed that the club is interested in a move for the Barcelona skipper who's free to speak with clubs about a free transfer move later this year.

Lionel Messi has less than six months on his existing Barcelona deal and he could leave the Catalan giants when his contract expires in the summer. Messi has spent the whole of his professional career at Barcelona.

MESSI RESTED FOR DINAMO CLASH

Barcelona would be without star player Lionel Messi for the Champions League trip to Ukrainian club Dynamo Kyiv in Group G after manager Ronald Koeman decided to rest him with the Catalans in a strong position in their group. Barcelona are one of the four clubs with a perfect record in the group stage of the competition this season.

The decision to rest Messi for the gruelling trip to Kyiv in Ukraine was conveyed to reporters by Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman during his pre-match press conference on Monday ahead of the game on Tuesday night. The former Barcelona midfielder also confirmed that Dutch international midfielder Frenkie de Jong will also be rested for the game
