Carlos Tevez Admits Santiago Bernabeu Final Will Be Weird

Carlos Tevez has admitted that it will be weird to be playing the Copa Libertadores final at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Real Madrid home stadium has been chosen as the destination for the final due to violence issues at the El Monumental stadium of River Plate. A Boca Juniors team bus was attacked last month and it was decided to move the final to a neutral venue in order to avoid another clash. Boca Juniors requested the title to be awarded on the basis of a no-show but this has been rejected.

Barcelona world class forward has reiterated his desire to keep winning trophies, growing and getting better. He says he still has that burning desire to win more silverware – individual and collective – and continue developing as a footballer.

The 30 year old is rated as one of the greatest players in the history of football to have ever the pitch, dominating Europe and the whole world for the past twelve years with Barcelona.
Despite having won numerous trophies, including nine La Liga titles, six Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League on four occasions, the Argentine star has said there is still a lot more to come from him.

Messi on Barcelona defeat

Barcelona striker Lionel Messi said that La Liga is more competitive than ever after his side were beaten on their home ground by Betis 4-3. He said that the match was a great one and that shows that there is more competition in La Liga nowadays.

He said that there are no small teams nowadays in La Liga and that there are no easy games anymore. He said that this will be better for the spectators as well as the competition.

Lionel Messi named new Barcelona captain

Barcelona have named Lionel Messi as their new captain following the departure of Andres Iniesta to Vissel Kobe. The Argentina international has acted as the club’s standing skipper on many occasions in the past but he has now been handed the permanent captaincy ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

A statement released by Barcelona read: “Lionel Messi will be the first captain. The Argentine takes over the role following the departure of Andrés Iniesta to Japanese club Vissel Kobe. The former Barca midfielder had the job from the 2015/16 season when he took over from Xavi, who in turn had inherited the position from the retired Carles Puyol.”

With Argentina out of the 2018 World Cup in the Round of 16, it presents another opportunity to critique the team skipper Lionel Messi. The Argentine has getting podium finishes at the Best player awards/Ballon d’Or every year for the last decade.

With Barcelona failing to advance in the Champions League, and with Messi’s performance in the World Cup in Russia, there are doubts that the star player would miss his regular podium finish for the first time.
